Leafpool's origins are rooted in ThunderClan. She is the daughter of Firestar and Sandstorm, and the sister of Squirrelstar. She trained as a medicine cat under Cinderpelt, and after Cinderpelt's death, she became ThunderClan's medicine cat. She is the mother of Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze. Her story is central to the Power of Three arc, where her kits are born with special powers. She later steps down as medicine cat, and Jayfeather takes her place.

In Their Own Story

The moon hung low and swollen over the lake, painting the water in hammered silver. Leafpool crouched at the edge of the ThunderClan camp, her gray-and-white fur damp with mist, and pressed her nose into a bundle of comfrey she'd been grinding for three hours. The scent was sharp, almost bitter, and it grounded her when the visions threatened to pull her under. She could feel them again—those half-formed images of fire and water, of a camp she didn't recognize, of a voice that was not StarClan's but something older. She blinked, and the images dissolved like ripples in a still pond. Beside her, no one sat. She was alone. That was the hardest part—knowing the future and still choosing to stitch the present, one careful suture at a time.
